At first I was disappointed in my order. Little did I realize the problem was caused by my own error. The Customer Service rep, who first addressed my issue, did not seem to address the issues. However, in a further exchange of emails, it was discovered where the problem was, in an error I made. Throughout the entire issue the customer service folks were courteous and helpful. The issue was finally resolved and the customer service people bent over backward to make sure I was satisfied. I am very pleased with the service I received

Most Important Driving Rules in Honduras

You may encounter rough roads, reckless drivers, and petty crimes when driving in Honduras. The driving laws may not be heavily implemented by traffic enforcers, but you still have to adhere to them to avoid accidents. To ensure your safety while traveling, be sure to read this guide. It has the most important road rules so that tourists who plan on driving in Honduras can be out of harm’s way.

Always Bring Your Driver’s License

Wherever you plan on driving, it is always a must to bring your valid driver’s license with you. Without it, not only can you not rent a car, but you’ll also be considered an unlicensed driver. If authorities stop you, and you’re unable to provide your license, you can be fined for violating traffic rules.

Remember that your license is different from an International Driving Permit (IDP). Unlike an IDP, your license is an official document. When applying for your International Driver's Permit for Honduras, tests, and other documents required for a driver’s license are not needed. This is because your IDP is not an official document; it is just an English translation of your native license.

Don’t Forget Your IDP

Another supplementary yet important document to bring is your International Driver's Permit. The IDP, also unofficially called an International Driving Permit, is a translation of your valid driver’s license that comes in the form of a booklet. You can get yours from the International Drivers Association.

The International Driver's Permit for Honduras has requirements that are relatively minimal. You’ll be asked to fill up an application and provide a copy of your driver's license and some digital photos. Do note that ordering an International Driver's Permit for Honduras has no guidelines. You just have to be of legal driving age in the country.

Visit the IDA website to know more about IDPs and when to use them. If you’re hesitating to apply for an International Driver's Permit for Honduras, samples of IDPs can be seen on the site. If you lost your IDP or have brought an expired one with you, simply go to the IDA website to get your International Driver's Permit in Honduras. Update your information, particularly your address, to have your copy sent to you.

Wear your seatbelt at all times

You may encounter Honduran locals who don’t obey traffic rules and drive recklessly. Driving laws are lightly implemented, as well. This results in many traffic accidents and fatal crashes. To avoid significant injuries and further casualties, it is important always to wear your seatbelt when driving in Honduras.

Wearing seatbelts is one of the driving laws that are taken seriously in the country. Carrying your driver’s license and other important documents like your IDP is also one of them. IDA issues IDPs recognized in over 150 countries; they also ship worldwide. When applying for an International Driver's Permit for Honduras, your number, name, and other driver details must be provided.

If you have other inquiries regarding the requirements for an International Driver's License for Honduras, you can visit the IDA website at internationaldriversassociation.com to learn more.

Drive Defensively

As mentioned, many local drivers are reckless behind the wheel. This is why it’s important to drive defensively. Furthermore, Honduras can also experience heavy rains since it is a tropical country. Thus, tourists must always stay alert as you follow road traffic rules, and be vigilant to avoid traffic violations and road accidents.

In case of violations and accidents, you would be required to present your license and IDP. If you don’t have the latter, be sure to apply for an International Driver's Permit for Honduras. The application form will be provided by IDA, and all you have to do is fill it up and supply the other requirements.

If you want to read more about IDPs, you can visit the IDA website. You can even look at samples posted on the page before applying for your International Driver's License for Honduras.

Keep Your Doors and Windows Locked

Honduras is one of the world’s countries with the highest crime rate; some common crimes in cities include theft and carjacking. This is why tourists aren’t recommended to take public busses since they might fall victim to these crimes. Also, drivers must keep their doors and windows locked while driving to prevent robbers and petty criminals from breaking in.

Having important documents stolen in Honduras is not uncommon. That’s why you must always keep your windows and doors locked. If your IDP was lost or stolen, just contact IDA customer service to get your new International Driver's License in Honduras. Remember that your address and zip code must be provided for quick and accurate shipment.

If you’re applying for a replacement copy, do note that you won’t have to pay for the IDP itself, just the shipping fees. When contacting customer service, make sure to give your name and IDP number to get your new International Driver's License in Honduras.

Don’t Drive and Wander at Night

Many streets in Honduras aren’t well lit at night, which serves as an invitation to thieves and carjackers. Authorities advise tourists not to drive or wander around when it gets dark, as a lot of criminal activities increase when the sun goes down. So instead of experiencing the nightlife in Honduras, try to stay indoors just to be safe.

Suppose your IDP is stolen. You can always get a replacement copy from IDA. Just make sure to update your detail, like your current address, so your International Driving License for Honduras will be mailed to you quickly.
