I recommend to book your boat ride enough of time in advance, so you secure your place and don't stress out at the last minute. The boat ride takes about 2 hours and it's commented ride with a few stops at the waterfalls or the rocks with seals at the place. Count with a long driving time to get to the place and then to get back. So if you travel from Queenstown, leave early in the morning. There is a very lovely flower field on the way to the place/back that I recommend to stop at and take a few photos with the flowers. You will see a lot of people around, so you shouldn't miss the place.

We loved the cultural experience at Te Puia. We learned about the Whanau [family] through their dance, arts and crafts and their environment. We saw the Pohutu geyer erupt and a glimpse of the two kiwis in their natural habitat. A portion of the entrance fees, covers scholarships to train the next generation to skill to carve and weave. Te Puia is worth your time and money.

Great alpine hike. Return shuttle available from hotels. Probably one of the best one day walks in NZ. Rugged volcanic desert, craters and glacial valleys. Incredible views. Can be 4 seasons in 1 day. Bring walking boots, backpack, wind & waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, > 1 litre water, snack, poles optional.

Even if you don't have time to do some of the walks, trails etc, this is a great visit. Take a short walk, they are well marked and the trees are amazing. Sundown here was beautiful. Well worth a visit, nice visitor centre and plenty of parking.

Lovely green space with amazing examples of foliage from around the world. The Avon River runs along the edge of the gardens. The rose garden is spectacular and the New Zealand garden beautifully wild. I enjoyed a couple of nice walks there.
