Plan Ahead: Red Rock Canyon Drive Needs Reservations Through May 2025
Red Rock Canyon’s Scenic Drive Now Requires Reservations
The Scenic Drive at Red Rock Canyon, just outside Las Vegas, now requires reservations through May 2025. This popular 13-mile drive is known for its stunning views, and a reservation system has been reinstated to manage the heavy visitor traffic.
Located 15 miles west of Las Vegas, Red Rock Canyon has been compared to Sedona, Arizona, and is a favorite for locals and tourists alike. The reservation system, originally implemented in 2020, is now back. Visitors will need to book their drive between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. via Recreation.gov.
Timed entry tickets are available 30 days in advance. For a personal vehicle, the cost is $20, while motorcycles and scooters are $10. There's also a non-refundable $2 fee per ticket. Without a reservation, it’s advised to arrive by 6 a.m.
In addition to the drive, Red Rock Canyon offers over two dozen hikes, such as the Calico Tanks Trail (2.4 miles) and Turtlehead Peak Trail (4.6 miles). For those planning a family picnic, the Red Spring Picnic Area is also available with its own entry pass.
The Red Rock Canyon Visitor's Center warns that parking fills up quickly on weekends, holidays, and fee-free days. To avoid the busiest hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., an early start is recommended.
Visiting the US? Aside from dropping by Red Rock Canyon, you can rent a car and drive around the United States to see some of the country’s cities. Embark on a 10-day road trip that will bring you to New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
