New Bengaluru Visa Facility Eases Travel for Indian Visitors to Italy

Indian travelers to Italy have a smoother path ahead. VFS Global, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Bengaluru, has launched a dedicated Visa Application Centre in Vasant Vihar. This facility aims to meet the surging demand for Italian visas, which has grown significantly since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new centre is expected to enhance the overall application process for residents of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. Alfonso Tagliaferri, Consul General of Italy in Bengaluru, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, "This centre will allow us to streamline procedures, handle more applications, and ensure a less crowded, tailored experience for Indian travelers."

VFS Global’s Chief Operating Officer, South Asia, Yummi Talwar, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in the centre’s ability to improve customer experiences. She noted that the company, which has partnered with Italy since 2004, now operates 12 Italy Visa Application Centres across India.

In 2022, Italian Visa Offices in India processed 67,000 applications. That number rose to over 91,600 in 2023, with the Bengaluru Consulate contributing significantly. As of mid-2024, it has already handled 54,200 applications and aims to surpass 100,000 by year-end.
