Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp in Kenya to Unveil New Look This 2025

Virgin Limited Edition is set to unveil a complete interior refurbishment of Mahali Mzuri, its luxury tented safari camp located in Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The camp, founded by Sir Richard Branson, will reopen in June 2025 with a redesigned interior meant to enhance the guest experience. The refurbishment will include a re-concept of the camp's 12 luxury tents and common areas, including the dining tent, bar, lounge, and an upgraded pool area overlooking the iconic route of the Great Wildebeest Migration. This immersive redesign, created in partnership with Lynne Hunt London, combines a contemporary interpretation of African style with local cultural elements, offering a serene environment that connects guests with nature.

The camp’s new interior design features natural materials and an earthy color palette complemented by vibrant red and black tones inspired by traditional Maasai attire. Local East African artists will showcase their work throughout the camp, further connecting guests to the region’s artistic heritage. Each tent, including a dedicated family tent, will provide spacious, open-plan suites with large windows and terraces, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The revamped camp will offer a front-row seat to the Great Migration, one of the most breathtaking natural phenomena, which takes place each year during July and August. The camp’s commitment to sustainability is central to its mission, with 80% of the staff coming from local Maasai villages. The camp also continues its support of conservation efforts, including a solar farm and rainwater harvesting systems to maintain its eco-friendly operations.
