To capture this market, the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) partnered with 12 travel companies to host roadshows in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata. These events showcase Kenya’s unique travel experiences, from iconic wildlife safaris in the Masai Mara to cultural adventures, coastal retreats, and luxury accommodations. Securing an international driving permit is a vital step for travelers exploring Kenya, with the Kenya driving guide offering valuable insights for navigating its diverse attractions.
KTB CEO June Chepkemei highlighted the 12.4% increase in Indian tourist arrivals in 2024, with numbers climbing to 106,863 compared to 95,038 in 2023. This growth signals heightened interest among Indian travelers, driven by better air connectivity, electronic travel authorizations (ETA), and the expansion of Kenya’s tourism infrastructure.
“Kenya offers something for everyone,” said Chepkemei, emphasizing the country’s appeal to honeymooners, adventurers, business groups, and filmmakers. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to boost Kenya’s share of the Asian travel market.
Ahmedabad’s recent roadshow marked a pivotal moment in Kenya’s outreach to Indian travelers. With daily flights from Mumbai operated by Indigo Air at 95% capacity, Kenya is increasingly accessible. Airlines like Air India and Kenya Airways are also ramping up connectivity, further fueling tourism growth.
