Do I need an international driver's license in Eritrea?

Although an International Driver’s License, mostly known as an International Driving Permit (IDP) isn’t required, it is highly recommended by many tourists who have driven in the country. Those who intend to explore the country using a rented motor vehicle from car rental companies can easily drive there as per United Nations, using their valid driver’s license. However, for this to be recognized by the road traffic authorities, it is highly advised to get your IDP to translate all the information on your driving license.
